Fleming House, Gravesend, Clarence Row

Standerwick Land Design are pleased to be working on the landscape strategy for Fleming House, Gravesend, as part of the redevelopment for Gravesham Borough Council. The scheme is currently progressing through the pre-application process, with planning targeted for December 2026.

The proposals create a greener and more welcoming setting for residents, with a shared amenity garden incorporating integrated play, social seating, tranquil planting and an accessible community growing garden. Step-free routes, raised growing beds and a pergola provide inclusive opportunities for gardening, social interaction and relaxation.

The public realm along Clarence Row and William Street is enhanced through new street trees, biodiverse planting and rain gardens, helping to improve the pedestrian environment while integrating sustainable drainage and supporting the principles of Healthy Streets.

Biodiversity and urban greening are central to the landscape strategy, with 23 new trees proposed against 9 removed. The varied tree and planting palette will increase canopy cover, enhance habitat and seasonal interest, and contribute to a more resilient landscape for the development.
