Environmental Improvement Strategy - Newham University Hospital

Standerwick Land Design has prepared an Environmental Improvement Framework and Landscape Masterplan for Newham University Hospital. The strategy supports Barts Health NHS Trust in strengthening the hospital estate’s role within Newham’s Green Infrastructure Network.

The framework identifies opportunities across the hospital grounds to enhance habitat quality, improve ecological connectivity and deliver meaningful environmental improvements across the estate.

A range of biodiversity enhancements are proposed, such as woodland restoration, species-rich planting and habitat improvements, helping to strengthen the ecological function of the site.

These measures aim to create green corridors across the estate, strengthen connections with nearby Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINCs), and provide high-quality amenity spaces for staff, patients and visitors while supporting wildlife.
