Crawley Hospital WAHMS

Artwork is part of a user group activity, in the detailed design of the new Crawley Hospital. SLD proposed that one of the main courtyards located adjacent to the hospital reception, should be designed to accommodate sculptures produced by patients and local artists.

The focal point to the garden would be a fountain set on the visual axis of the entrance doors to the hospital. We recommended to the Trust that artists already commissioned should have their brief extended to produce a unique fountain using glass to reflect the glass within the external walls. The artist used green laminated green glass after exploring a number of options in workshops where shapes and form were explored.
